What If I say I’m not like the others

They call him ‘The nicest guy in Rock and Roll’, Dave Grohl, Frontman of the Foo Fighters.

Dave Grohl has always been an inspiration to me, not just for his unique ability to churn out some of the best Rock music of the past 2 decades but for his passion and hunger for music.

Born in 1969 in Warren, Ohio the world was a different place, Richard Nixon had just been inaugurated as 37th President of the US, Man made its first steps on the Moon and George Lazenby was James Bond.

Grohl was born into a middle class family, his mother a teacher and father a journalist. Nothing about his upbringing bestowed upon him the right to be a good musician, nothing screamed out that he would sell out some of the biggest venues in the world only a passion for music.

He practiced drums on pillows in this room when he couldn’t afford to buy his own set, he let nothing stand in his way. Fast forward to 1990 and he found himself without a band to play in, by chance a friend gave him phone number of two guys from a band in need of a drummer, the two guys were Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic and the band was Nirvana. The rest they say is history.Dave-Grohl-Rockstar-Data-Storage

At the time of Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994 Dave Grohl took to the Ring of Kerry in Ireland to help him get over the death of his friend but what he discovered was that the passion that has spurned him on all these years still burned as bright as ever and upon returning to the US he booked some studio time in Seattle and recorded, on his own, 15 tracks that would turn out to be the first Foo Fighters record.

2014 saw the release of the 8th Foo Fighters Studio album ‘Sonic Highways’ and hot of the back of a successful 8 part HBO Documentary which followed the band as they recorded in 8 different cities across the US, the band feeding of the passion of those cities and channeling it into the recording process.

Dave Grohl oozes Musical passion and has proven that having a passion for something will get you through anything in life, no matter how tough the journey gets.

Happy Birthday Dave Grohl, you rock!

In today’s fast paced economy, where words like “disruption” and “transformation” make for exciting opportunities and endless possibilities, the one static factor is that any business, large or small, is almost totally reliant on having constant access to its data.
