Buying IBM, getting sacked, and other short stories…
If there was one phrase that celebrates the success of a global tech company and at the same time the failure of a million sales people, then that’s the one.
“You never get sacked for buying IBM…”
You know the company. IBM. Technology giant. 100 years old. Almost 500,000 employees worldwide. Great computers. Great company, for sure.
And if you are in sales you will be equally as familiar with the clichéd response to that failed sale:
“We did all we could – but ultimately, you don’t get sacked for buying IBM.”
That one sentence suggests many things – a poor and somewhat lazy procurement process from the buyers perspective, a total cop-out from the sellers perspective and yet further proof – if proof were needed, that IBM is a bullet proof solution to ALL of your IT needs.
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
Rockstar Data is a very recent arrival to a rather cluttered storage landscape within the UK and Ireland, but in less than 16 months has made a serious impact within the creative industries – specifically, post-production, broadcast, advertising and film.
Some of those businesses we now call customers, bought Rockstar products following the most stringent pre-qualification and qualifying process – questioning, demonstrating and more questioning – before even considering a purchase.
We expected nothing less, given the high value those organisations attach to their work.
After all, the most valuable assets of any business should be stored and managed to the highest standards.
Rockstar Data offers a high-powered collaborative, shared storage solution for both onsite environments and off-site “Private Cloud”.
Our customer list includes ITV, Piranha Bar, Yellowmoon and Irish TV and a host of others, whose buying decision was based on what they needed and what worked best for their environments.
And at a cost that makes great business cents (see what I did there…)
Ultimately, making a more informed buying decision is unlikely to put your job at risk.
Quite the opposite in fact…
